  • 1 ½ cups pure maple syrup
  • 1 Tablespoon alcohol-free vanilla extract
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 4 ½ Tablespoons cold butter, cut into small pieces
  • 1 cup buttermilk

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 180°F to keep dumplings warm.
  2. In a large pot, bring water, maple syrup, vanilla extract, and salt to a boil.
  3. In a food processor, combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Add cubed cold butter and pulse until resembling coarse meal.
  4. Transfer to a mixing bowl, stir in buttermilk until just combined.
  5. Drop spoonfuls of dough into boiling sauce until the pot is two-thirds full. Cover and reduce heat to low; simmer for about 10 minutes until cooked through.
