  • 4 large russet potatoes
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 yellow onion
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • 2 cups half-and-half
  • 2 cups mixed frozen vegetables
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • ¾ teaspoon salt
  • ¾ cup sour cream
  • 3 tablespoons salted butter
  • ¼ cup flour
  • ¾ teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 teaspoons Italian seasoning
  • ½ teaspoon mustard powder
  • ¼ teaspoon ground sage
  • Salt/Pepper (to taste)

Instructions

  1. Peel and chop potatoes, boil until tender, then mash with sour cream and butter.
  2. Cook ground beef in a large stock pot until browned; set aside.
  3. In the same pot, sauté onions and garlic until soft. Add flour and stir for one minute.
  4. Gradually add chicken broth while stirring continuously; mix in seasonings and half-and-half.
  5. Stir in mashed potatoes until combined; return beef and frozen vegetables to the pot.
  6. Heat through, then stir in shredded cheese until melted.
